My name is Omni. I am a Nurse at the VA Hospital in Richmond. I am married and have 2 boys: 8 years old and 2 years old.
I had finished breastfeeding my youngest in July of 2013. I had been active before but never really got back down to my wedding day weight after having my first child. My weight at this time fluctuated between 215 and 210 lbs.
In November of 2013, I started taking a weight lifting class 3 times a week called Body Pump at American Family Fitness. In March of 2014, I added running 2 to 3 miles three times a week. I ran/walked the Monument 10 K with my husband. Around this time, I re-connected with an old friend of mine and she invited me to join a Facebook fitness challenge group. I found the daily motivation to keep going as I felt like I was all alone. It was real easy to say “Oh I am too tired, I have had a rough day and am not go to the gym by myself.” But the Facebook group kept me motivated, challenged and accountable for my workouts and nutrition. I kept pushing myself more and more.
I also purchased a home exercise program called Turbofire, a very high energy exercise program I am able to at home when I could not get to the gym. Now I am starting to train for the HCA Richmond 8K in November. I do some form of exercise 6-7 days a week sometimes one workout early in the morning before work and then one at the gym after work. My energy level has gone up and I have had issues with my knees some days, which I still exercise I just back down on the intensity and do the low impact options. I also take Glucosamine and Chondrotin daily and Ibuprofen as needed.
So that’s my story. I have lost a total of 17 inches total from waistline, hips and butt, thighs and arms. I weigh about 156 lbs now. Goal is 142.
