I was a few months shy of 1 year postpartum when a friend of mine encouraged me to attend classes at our gym. I felt insecure and out of place for a few weeks as I (literally) got my footing in each class. My weight and inexperience made me sweat before I even went into the room. First came Barre and Active and I loved them. Then came Blast and, DANG was it hard! I started showing up to Power and I rekindled my love for heavyweights and seeing how heavy I could go. The instructors gave me the right guidance and made me smile every time.

I kept showing up and trying. That’s all it took. First, I started feeling better. I was able to pick my son up without any back issues. Carrying groceries got easier! Now, I’m feeling stronger than I’ve ever been and starting to see definition in my arms and legs.

The folks at American Family Fitness made it a fun and safe spot for me, especially when building up the courage to show up was the hardest part of it all. I feel connected and committed to my health in a sustainable way and all I had to do was show up and try.
