I joined the gym in the summer of 2019. I was diagnosed with RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis) 8 years ago. In those eight years, I have packed on 50 pounds due to medications and lack of exercise. When I joined the gym, my goal was to move my joints to help strengthen the muscles around them to help ease the intense pain I was in. I started with the circuit weights and was swimming approximately eight laps. In August, there was a swim challenge to swim 15 miles in 31 days. I started this challenge, not confident I could complete it. I finished it !! I was motivated to continue the swim. I now swim 2 hours or 2 miles a day, and I’ve lost 50 pounds. My rheumatoid dr says I’m an inspiration to other patients.
