? Meet Scott Maulding!

It wasn’t that long ago that Scott was smoking two packs of cigarettes a day and was pre-diabetic.

His diet consisted of sugary drinks and he did not exercise. His doctor had a heart to heart chat with him and told him the future looked dire because of his high blood pressure, high cholesterol and lack of activity. 

After witnessing his best friend die from ALS and having his own father diagnosed with diabetes, he decided it was time for a change.

He made a life resolution.

Scott decided he needed to be held accountable and instead of spending money on cigarettes, he was going to join a gym and hire a certified personal trainer.

He set obtainable goals and wrote a plan. He also put the wheels in motion to train for a 5k race. He only planned to walk it but before he knew it, he was losing weight, feeling great and wanting more. He soon completed 10k races and half-marathons. To date, he participates in Spartan races, where he encourages his gym buddies to join him.

Scott says when he was overweight and out of shape, he was embarrassed to take his shirt off at the beach. Those days are over, as he has lost 100 pounds! His heaviest weight tipped the scales at 300 pounds?

Today Scott stays motivated by his community and is an avid group fitness enthusiast at our Swift Creek location. In fact, he recently became a certified personal trainer!? Scott, thank you for sharing your story and keep on racing toward the finish line!
